Heading

a.k.a., Title, Scene Title, Slugline, Segment Title

In a screenplay, a heading describes a specific location and time. In other mediums, a scene heading can be used more generically to summarize or setup the content of a scene.

Body

a.k.a., Content, Script

Content describing the things that characters do, say, or feel in a given scene, and formatted to fit a specific medium.

Story Event

a.k.a., Setup, Payoff, Story Event

An occurrence in a Plot Thread that relates to another that comes either before or after.

Summary

A brief description of the events of a scene which, when exported to .fdx, maps directly to the Summary feature in Final Draft.

Tags

Custom keywords for tracking the frequency of topics throughout the story.

Theme

The content of a scene should address your story's theme in one of four ways:

• Explored - Touching on one or more aspects of the theme but not taking a strong stance on the core message.
• Challenged - Playing devil's advocate by exploring the other side of the thematic argument, making things less preachy.
• Stated - Clearly stating the theme's core message in unambiguous terms.
• Symbolized - Presenting a visual or conceptual metaphor that explores the theme.

The shift between positive and negative energy of a scene. Positive for when circumstances improve, negative for when they worsen.
